New Dimensions of Indian Policy for Central Asia

Abstract

India strengthens its position on the global stage every year, expanding beyond its regional status. New territories, including the countries of Central Asia, are emerging as areas of its foreign policy interests. This article examines three key areas of interaction: regional security, economics, and energy, and provides current examples of cooperation at various levels. Furthermore, the authors provide a description of Indian-Central Asian relations. The main conclusion of the paper is the urgent need to develop a comprehensive foreign policy and economic strategy between India and the countries of Central Asia.
