The activities of the Amur River Shipping Company to ensure Russian- Chinese border relations in the Far East in the mid 1940s – 1950s.

Abstract

The article analyzes the significance of the activities of the Amur River Shipping Company for interregional Russian-Chinese border cooperation in the Far East in the mid-1940s - 1950s. Using unpublished archival documents, the authors examine the border ties between Russia and China in the Far East during the period of the liberation of the Northeast of China and after the formation of the People's Republic of China, highlight the features of the functioning of the river fleet on the Amur to ensure good-neighborly Russian-Chinese relations between the border territories of the two countries, characterize the importance of the activities of the Amur River Shipping Company in the development of interaction between the border areas of the Russian Far East and the Chinese province of Heilongjiang in the context of Russian- Chinese relations at the interstate and interregional levels. The use of problem-chronological and structural-functional research methods made it possible to show the significance of the activities of the Amur rivermen in the context of Russian- Chinese interstate and interregional cooperation, to study the characteristic features of the activities of the Amur River Shipping Company in the mid- 1940s - 1950s. as part of the system of relations between Russia and China in the Far East. The authors come to the conclusion that the cargo transportation of the Amur Shipping Company along the river border routes and the transportation of various kinds of delegations were an integral part of the Russian-Chinese border relations in the study period, contributed to the development of good neighborly cooperation in all areas and laid a solid foundation for the resumption of relations between the USSR and China in 1980 -s yrs.
