The confrontation between China and the United States over the Pacific Islands

The presented work is devoted to the island states of the Pacific Ocean, representing one of the key zones of the Sino-American confrontation. The relevance of this topic is due to the dominant position of the United States in the world, as well as the growing role of China in the system of international relations, which can radically reshape the geopolitical balance in the region. Over the past decade, stability in the Pacific region has gradually deteriorated due to the increasing confrontation between key players in the region. China accuses US allies and partners of militarizing the islands and striving for regional hegemony, while the United States is trying to "play the card" of the Pacific region in order to curb China's growth as a maritime power. All sides have reasons to maintain and expand their military and economic presence on the Pacific islands, and one of the main reasons is control over maritime transport communications. The study analyzes the behavior and tactical steps in cooperation with China and the United States that can affect the balance of power in the region.
