Abstract
This paper investigates the functioning of the persuasive strategy of self-presentation. For the analysis in this paper, we examine the examples from two stand-up TV programs — “Open mic” (2017–) in Russian and “脱口秀大会” (2017–2022) in Chinese. The article also presents the main classifications of self-presentation strategy tactics, put forward by domestic and foreign scientists. The relevance of the study is due to the growing interest in linguistics to the phenomena of persuasiveness outside of political and advertising discourse and consists in determining the main operating apparatus of one of the secondary persuasive strategies — the strategy of self -presentation — in the speech of native speakers of Russian and Chinese. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implementation of the strategy of self-presentation in the speech of Russian and Chinese comedians through different tactics and a set of linguistic means. It has been established that the tactics of self-presentation in Chinese speech is mainly aimed at creating a negative image of the speaker. In Russian speech, the means of this strategy can be aimed at creating a positive image of the speaker with ironic overtones. The work also identifies the most frequent tropes and stylistic techniques for the implementation of persuasiveness, including contextual antithesis, self-irony, elements or full versions of idioms and folk sayings, etc
