Abstract

Rituals are an important component of Chinese cultural tradition, reflecting their historical and mythological heritage, values and beliefs. The purpose of this article is to define the phenomenon of ritual as an interdisciplinary problem. Based on the understanding of ritual as one of the forms of symbolic action, expressing the subject's connection with the system of social relations and values and devoid of utilitarian or self-valuable meaning, we analyze some features of the specificity of Chinese rituals and their philosophical understanding. Particular attention is paid to the correlation between the concepts of ritual, tradition, custom, and ritual.
