Abstract

Due to the growing interest of people in medicine and the desire to learn more about themselves and their health, various films, series and talk shows about the hard work of doctors and about the characteristics of different diseases are released every year. In other words, the field of medicine and health care has become more accessible to ordinary people, while retaining its characteristic features, in particular the use of medical language, which includes medical terminology, medical professionalisms, jargon, etc. However, the use of exclusively medical terminology in films and TV series is not quite reasonable, since the film industry is primarily aimed at a wide audience, so it is necessary to use such units of medical terminology that will be understandable to unprepared audience and at the same time will not distort the essence of the phenomenon. In addition, when translating the film industry, it is necessary to observe the peculiarities of audiovisual translation, that is, to use units of the target language which in terms of pronunciation length will coincide with the original units, which will avoid unsynchronization with what is happening in the frame. Since the existing classifications of ways of translation from Chinese into Russian are suitable either for everyday vocabulary or for general scientific terminology, the article attempts to create a classification of the ways of translation of terms from Chinese into Russian on the basis of previously unstudied material — the Chinese TV series ‘Surgeons’ (外科风云).
