Западные исследования альбомов мяо

Аннотация
Альбомы мяо появились в XVIII в и предназначались для того, чтобы изобразить этнические группы малых народностей, живущих на границах Цинской империи. В альбомы входили не только собственно мяо (хмонги), но и представители многих малых народов юго-востока Китая, т.е. современных провинции Гуи чжоу и Юньнань. Цель данной статьи — дать краткий обзор и оценку западноевропейских и американских исследовании альбомов мяо. Исследования альбомов начались в середине XIX в и стали особенно популярны в XXI в. и по большей части выполнялись изолированно, т.е. попавший в руки исследователей объект в большинстве случаев исследовался с приведением минимального контекста. Обычно исследователи переводили и комментировали памятник, в лучшем случае сравнивая его с коллекциями других музеев и университетов. На современном этапе альбомы исследуются в соответствии с современными же трендами (гендер, этничность и т.п.), исследования часто носят тенденциозный характер, но постепенно становятся более комплексными.
